NBA Ref a Liar, a Cheat, and Now, a Rat
Huge news last night as Tim Donaghy’s lawyer (What do you call thousands of lawyers in the bottom of the ocean?) shares that a couple of his colleagues fixed two NBA playoff games, one of them, the 2002 Kings/Lakers finals. POST A COMMENT
I remember the ‘02 finals like it was my first kiss, sloppy and not the outcome I was hoping for. After that series, I actually scribbled a letter to David Stern saying that I was officially retiring as an NBA fan because of the poor calls during game 6, and that he was not going to do anything about it. It was utterly obvious that something else, other than fair play, was going on. My boycott was short-lived, but the NBA has never been the same for me…at least until the Celtics/Lakers finals. Now, I am fully engrossed in the NBA spectacle.
So, Donaghy is facing sentencing soon and decides to rat out his boys, typical referee move, spineless. Donaghy is lucky he is not in the mob; otherwise he would get snuffed out, maybe whistled to death. He deserves a “T” for spewing blame elsewhere. I guess it is good knowing he will have to live with the fact that he is a gutless fink.
Donaghy has long-been ejected from the NBA, but we all know that the NBA wants to keep certain players on the TV screen, so some calls don’t get made, that’s show business. And, as a referee you accept that. On the flip side, perhaps if the referees did not like these directives then they should have had a sit-in. But, they should never lie, cheat, or rat. I am all for ratting out someone for the betterment of the big picture, but for personal gain.
Regardless of it all folks, there is nothing like a little spectacle to take away from the most exciting time in sports, Celtics/Lakers final and Mark Cuban, the future owner of the Chicago Cubs! POST A COMMENT

Read the whole post and I'm still laughing over the kiss.
