The Donaghy ugliness is growing, rapidly. Forums, blogs, and news articles are on being launched every minute. And, David Stern (or $tern, as some people are saying) cannot come back from this one, especially with his nonchalant retort about Donaghy allegations. Stern’s consistent inability to lead this runaway association we call the NBA will surely lead to its downfall.
So, what now? How do we recover? Do what the MLB did, get the government involved? The FBI is already in it, but Congress? No need to pull a Selig here. Stern should announce his stepping down and the board should start courting the following potential successors;
- George Mitchell: George is a no-nonsense, straight-shooter, perfect for the job.
- Michael Jordan: why not?
- Al Gore: at least he would Greenify the league.
- Jack Nicholson: that would be awesome!
- Spike Lee: not sure about this one.
VIDEO TIMEOUT - THIS IS VERY INTERESTING
In all seriousness, there is a much needed change, or the NBA is going to continue on a downward spiral. Stern has proven that does not have the ability to effectively lead the NBA. Since the beginning of his tenure we have seen;
- Viewership and game attendance have dropped
- Referees are fixing games
- Players are punching fans
- Poor suspensions during playoff games
- The Seattle fiasco
- Poor expansions
Your move, David. Fans, what do you think? Comment now
