So here I sit, blog’ing for the sake of blog’ing. Fully aware of the daunting task of keeping my blog current, my fingers stride through the keys hoping that inspiration will smack my face red. Nothing yet, but I feel a glimmer, perhaps I can share some curious events that I have experienced as of late;
- Dumb cab drivers: most Chicago cab drivers are quite savvy, but last night I either hailed down a dumb cabby, or one that thought I was a tourist. Nonetheless, he took me on a ride that way out of the way. I did not realize this at first as my crack-berry captivated my attention. When I pulled myself away to get a status report, I noticed this guy was going a way I had never gone. I asked, “What are you doing (we were on Columbus heading south)?” He mumbled something, so I repeated myself…his retort, “ummm….well, ummm.” I replied, “why didn’t you take lower Wacker, where are you going?” Moments later we emerged, but only a hundred yards from where our journey had begun. In the end, the ride cost 2 more dollars than it should have. Lesson learned, give cabbies the route to take, or they will take you for a ride, or if you forget, give them hell if they take the leisure path.
- Force politeness: some people do not know how to be polite, or in a state where their politeness has left them; remind them. Case in point, last night a patron at a bar in LP (we were celebrating Two-Pac’s Bday, the big 30) spilled his beer on my friends foot, and his wife’s foot, and failed he failed to apologize, so I stepped in and asked him to do so, he did, cordially, and then offered to buy us a round, which we so graciously accepted…no harm, no foul, just be polite.
Side Note: heading to Door County this weekend to soak in the fresh air! Stay tuned for a post next week about the weekend, and Door County.
