I watched the debate last night in Ohio and could not help but notice Hillary Clinton’s anxiousness, while Obama was not his usually smooth self. But, it was Hillary’s demeanor of “do or die” that stuck out like a sore thumb; on a couple of occasions her spatter had to be cut short by moderator, Tim Russert, yet she would still attempt to continue her spew until they finally Kanye’d her, and queued the music to cut to commercial.
At one point a video clip was introduced as an Obama speech and instead it was Hillary a theatrical clip of Hillary mocking Obama’s “united” view for America. I found this suspicious; they did not queue up the correct video, but instead asked Obama how he felt, and he accepted the humor for what it was and moved on. This was a poor tactic by the media to create drama in an already drama-ridden political race; poor taste, or slanted.
In conclusion, the most notable characteristic of this debate was Hillary’s continuous torts about what Obama did or did not do. These can be an effective means of discrediting your opponent, but she failed to raise any actions or inactions that Obama was unable to rebut. It seems illogical to identify attributes of your opponent that can easily be disputed. I found it discouraging to watch last night. I am hopeful for the future, we have some solid candidates, but if I could offer one bit of advice to runners, stick to what you know and what you can do for this country, that’s all I want to hear. Your mud-slinging is like bile, and something I do not care to hear.
