I read this article today, and commenced to laugh out loud at how ridiculous New York Jets coach, Eric Mangini looks. Good thing Sopranos is over because Anthony would have whacked this “Rat Fink”. Talk about burning bridges, Mangini has torched any opportunity of a reconciliation between him and the man who made him who he is today, Bill Belichick.
Back in September, the New England Patriots videotaped the NY Jets sideline during the game, a common practice for scouting future matchups, but not everyone gets caught, just the mighty Patriots. Now, I do not condone this tactic, but it exists, Mangini just happens to be a RAT, and left his "What it means to be an NFL coach" handbook at home. He knew very well it was happening, because he himself is a spy. And, while with the Pats, he partook in this common practice. Why? To get an edge; that's why they all do it.
So today, Mangini concedes that he videotaped the Pats during a game last year (end zone angles, supposedly). But, why was his employee so kindly escorted out of the stadium? Perhaps this videographer had slipped from his accepted end zone angle, accidentally shifted the focus of his camera on to the Patriots sideline and captured some defensive hand signals. Ya think? C'mon Eric, fess up, be a man.
Mangini has a responsibility to his old team. He knew what was going on, he did it himself, but he decided to chump-out and point his chubby finger at Bill Belichick, and cost the Pats some serious dough (Bill even) and a first round draft pick. The truth, he is sour. His team is going down the drain and he does not know what to do (cool satire article). Karma works in funny ways, and on Sunday karma will land in Mangini’s lap. Do not miss this game!
Don't bite the hand that feeds you. Mangini is the only coach of the magical 3 (Mangini, Crennel, and Weiss) that is causing drama. Weiss is at Notre Dame, getting crushed; Crennel is killing it in Cleveland, and would never think of ratting-out Belichick. Now here's Eric, who should have took care of this behind closed doors, or sucked it up. Now, he is that guy, and no one likes to be that guy.
You made your bed Eric, now sleep in it. Good luck on Sunday. I would be very surprised if your offense makes it past the 50-yard line. And, Brady is going to set a single-game record for pass yards. Ha!
After a night of sleep on the subject, I want to thank Mangini (aka Man-gina). The Patriots are on a mission, and have utterly destroyed most of their opponents. Perhaps motivation would not be so high, if they were not Benedict Arnold'ed by their old coach. Thanks again Eric, good luck on Sunday.
